Perinatal Trauma Processing for Infants and Young Children

Does your baby have "colic"? Does your baby scream or cry suddenly? Do they seem to be agitated, uncomfortable and there are not medical reasons why? Has your child suffered from separation at birth, or medical procedures at a young age? Do you feel your birth was traumatic?

Did you know that infants can experience trauma in the womb, at birth and postnatally? While this can seem scary, it is actually really good for us to be aware of it because there are lots of things we can do to help our babies heal and process their trauma.

Through ongoing trainings with Myrna Martin and Maggie Kline (both somatic trauma therapsits for children), I am learning ways of supporting the babies of my birthing clients.

I know that it was hard for me to heal from my birth trauma while caring for an infant who was also traumatised. The crying, the agitation, the irritability he was experiencing was impacting my own ability to regulate for myself and for him. This is why I am starting to do work with infants and their parent. Both of your impact each other, and both of you deserve loving and compassionate support to process the huge initiation you have just gone through.

In sessions with your baby, I will be coaching YOU to do healing techniques with your baby while I support the space and track your nervous systems. I will provide psychoeducation, as well as a healing and safe space for you two to experience a chance at rewriting the beginning of your story together. Through guided somatic practices, we will work toward the completion of the stress cycle in both you and your baby so you can experience more bonding, and less distress.

You can both heal and actually become fiercely resilient after your unique birth story.
